About Philip Walter Smith

Strong leadership, management and teaching/mentoring capabilities developed during many years’ experiences in motivational speaking, financial services management, business and agricultural lending, accounting, taxation, business planning, operational strategy, real estate appraisal and risk-based lending.  Skilled in economic and operational evaluations and assessments of financial sectors in several countries. Skilled in all facets of International Financial Reporting Standards financial statement analysis, risk management, real estate appraisal and International Valuation Standards, and real estate finance.  Familiar with all aspects of financial and non-financial institution management (central banks, commercial banks, savings and loan associations, microfinance operations, and non-regulated lenders) with emphasis on all types of lending, accounting, internal control, risk management, valuation, strategic planning, and budgeting.

That is the formal part. As an individual, Philip started out as an accountant, worked for large real estate development and management companies in Maine and California, at banks in Southern California, and then was the owner of two H&R Block franchises that were re-purchased by Block because they were number 1 in growth in California.

Then he moved to the former Soviet Union to help central banks and commercial banks convert to the international financial standards. He has been involved in more than 70 businesses as owner or CEO. And, he has helped businesses create more than 4,000 jobs during the last 40 years.

After living outside the United States for 27 years, Philip is back in the US devoting the rest of his life to his mission of helping others create assets and organize a better life for themselves and their families. He has written 7 books which will all be available soon on his website.

To help others, 20% of the GROSS INCOME received from the public speaking and sales of merchandise is donated to charity. At the end of 2024, the total contribution is expected to be in excess of $200,000.

Philip is married to Merim. He has one daughter from his first marriage, three grandchildren, and one great grandson. Phil and Merim currently live in Maine.
